Mind if I smoke?

http://blogs.ibibo.com/darshak/why-smoking-should-be-banned-in-public-places Smoking in certain indoor areas(restaurants, shopping malls, concert halls, etc.) has been in effect for some time now, but now they are widening it: they have also made it illegal to smoke in your own car if kids are present(and have fined people for doing so!) and now working on banning it in all public OUTDOOR areas(such as parks) as well! Now, I’m a non-smoker,and I don’t appreciate breathing in smoke, but I also don’t think it’s right they are trampling on smoker’s rights; what’s next: banning it in your own HOME,too? I don’t agree with the gov’t dictating what we can and cannot do; limiting our freedom more and more all the time; they have banned lawn pesticides, perfume in public places, plastic bags,etc.. the list goes on…what will they ban next? They come after the smokers now, who will they come after next? YOU? Where does it END? I am staunchly against gov’t intrusion and over-regulation.Better yet, why not just ban tobacco altogether?(but then again, they get like 90% TAX on it, so they’d NEVER do THAT!!!)Watch out for Big Brother!!(he’s watching YOU!!)As my hubby always says Hitler’s Nazi politics HAVE succeeded; only 60-some years later, and done slowly(not quickly like in the 40’s) so people are “climatized” and  less aware and more accepting..a chilling thought, but true…

It’s too late for Jon and Kate…

What a sad story this is. Jon and Kate Gosselin  have announced their split. Now, it’s hardly surprising and everyone already suspected anyway,  but it’s still sad. Poor Jon and Kate. Now, I have to admit I’ve never even watched their show, but the news is all over and you can’t  miss it. I’m not too “fond” of either of them from what I’ve seen, neither of them seem to be “nice” people, but the end of a marriage(and a family) is a sad thing.I feel badly for the poor kids. Divorce is always hard on kids, no matter how people try to downplay it and say how “resilient” kids are,etc.. I grew up without  a father and felt a regret, and  something lacking my whole life because of it.(I only “re-connected” with him by e-mail a few years ago, before he died) Kids DO need BOTH parents for healthy emotional development, and that’s the way God meant for it to be.I pray for the Gosselin family.I pray they can heal from the hurt, and can be made whole and happy again.
