Is that a Cannabis plant in my garden?

I saw this plant in my garden I thought looked suspiciously like a Cannabis(marijuana) plant; it had a strong, thick stalk, long, thin leaves with serrated edges and pointed tips….so I did a Google search for more details and info and to compare the leaves with photos of Cannabis, and as it turns out, it’s not afterall; the leaves go up the stalk individually, not in a “hand ” shape.I never did find out what plant(or weed) it is, but think I safely ruled out Cannabis! (I don’t really need the RCMP raiding us,afterall!)I did find wild strawberries growing there the other day, so who knows, esp. with neighbors beside both  us and behind us that DO smoke up; I wondered if maybe if seeds somehow blew over from there,or they maybe even snuck into our yard one night and planted it! That was my little adventure for the day! 🙂

I’m wrongly accused!

My hubby wrongly accused me of being “extravagant”, which is sort of hilarious actually considering that I only buy food reduced, on sale, or with coupons, and buy clothing second-hand.I also wear clothes until they literally fall off my back(stretched-out elastic and full of holes by the time I finally throw it out) and when I took the kids to Europe I brought along little boxes of cereal and bottled water, refusing to spend money on food( 5 Euros(equal to our 10$) for an ice-cream cone? I don’t THINK so!) and was accused of being “cheap!”.In fact, I am more “cheap” when HE, on the other hand, thinks nothing of spending 100$ on one stupid DART or 100$ to have the piano tuned(and *I* think is frivolous, esp. considering he’ll soon be out of work and money is tight!!)and *I’M* the ‘extravagant” one? I guess to no longer be considered “extravagant” now I have to select our clothing out of the Goodwill box and go to the soup kitchen or foodbank(or Dumpster diving, perhaps?) for food? I mean, how much LESS than extravagant can I BE? I also squeeze every last drop out of the toothpaste, re-use plastic baggies, pass the kids clothes down, buy food in bulk, cut everyone’s hair myself, groom the dog myself, buy toys at garage sales, use both sides of paper, etc.. always trying to SAVE money! Sheesh!!

Bug-off!!

I got stung by a wasp yesterday. I always have bad allergic reactions(like my entire leg swelling up!) so I took Benadryl as a precaution….and it knocked me out cold! I got so sleepy and groggy I had to have a nap for an hour! I felt like how I do jet-lagged, when I’ve been travelling and awake for over  30 hours!I go really weird; I stagger around like a drunk, slur my words,am disoriented and confused, and can’t process anything or function! Canada Day also went well for us; we never got the storm(or even rain!) so our family business did well(it’s always the best day for us all year…as long as the weather cooperates, that is!) and made as much in just the one day as my hubby does at his other job in 2 weeks! We also saw the fireworks at night, and we’re having the storm today, but that’s ok; it can rain all it wants now!!

Read any good books lately?

My indulgence and passion? I LOVE to read!! Reading has got to be my favourite hobby! I am a voracious reader, and stories set in the 1800’s are my all-time favourites! I enjoy “Anne of Green Gables”, “Little Women”, Laura Ingalls’ “Little House on the Prairie” series, and Beverly Lewis’ Amish-themed series. It was a simpler time then, a time when people HAD strong familes, values and faith. They had manners, respect, went to church, loved God, abhorred and punished sin,and looked after eachother. I love to read and “transport” myself back to that time period, to a gentler, moral, society,a time in history I wished *I* could have lived in!
